BMW Motorrad India has taken to social media to release a teaser for a new bike. The short teaser video and the image shows the rear of the motorcycle. It also suggests that the new bike could be BMW’s version of the TVS Apache RR 310.
BMW will launch the new motorcycle on 15th July 2022. The similarities between the RR 310 and the bike in the video are instantly noticeable. In fact, the taillight, handlebar clip-ons, windscreen and mirrors look identical.
What Can We Expect?
One thing that will not likely see any change is the engine. BMW will use the TVS Apache RR 310’s 312.2cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor in the same state of tune. The same engine also does duty on BMW’s G 310 R and G 310 GS. The engine produces 34 PS and 27.3 Nm of torque.
Styling of BMW’s version of the Apache RR 310 could see no changes except for new colours. Hence, it could continue with the same design for the fairing and Bi-LED projector headlights. There is no confirmation on the name of the new motorcycle. BMW could name it the S 310 RR or G 310 RR. We see a number plate with the ‘RR’ letters from the video, so it is sure to use them.
Another common thing could be the Bluetooth-enabled TFT instrument console. The Apache RR 310 gets four riding modes – Rain, Urban, Sport and Track. Expect the BMW to get them as well. The different ride modes alter the maximum power and throttle response. In addition to this, they also change the layout of the display. BMW will most likely have its own set of graphics for the instrument cluster.
What is still uncertain is the ergonomics and suspension. BMW could offer the same clip-on handlebar, footpegs and suspension as the Apache RR 310. Or, BMW could position it above the Apache RR 310 and use bits from TVS’ BTO kit. The kit includes a more aggressive handlebar and footpegs for sportier ergonomics. The BTO kit also offers a fully-adjustable upside-down fork and preload and rebound adjustable rear monoshock. Currently, TVS offers these at an additional cost under its BTO (Built To Order) catalogue.
