BMW Motorrad reveals F 450 GS Adventure motorcycle concept

Written by News Team

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the F 450 GS Adventure motorcycle concept at the EICMA 2024 show, offering a glimpse into the future of adventure bikes. The new concept is designed to bridge the gap between BMW’s G 310 GS and the F 800/900 series, targeting the growing sub-500cc adventure bike segment.

F 450 GS Adventure Powertrain and Design

The F 450 GS features a new 450cc twin-cylinder engine that produces around 47 horsepower. The engine is designed to be lightweight, using materials like magnesium to keep the overall weight of the bike at just 175 kg. This makes it agile and easy to handle, both on-road and off-road.

The design of the F 450 GS takes cues from BMW’s larger GS models, particularly the R 1300 GS, with a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel. The bike is equipped with fully adjustable USD front forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride.

Features

In terms of technology, the F 450 GS comes with a 6.5-inch TFT display, offering features like cornering ABS, riding modes, traction control, and Bluetooth connectivity. The bike also includes LED lights, digital rider aids, and a lean-sensitive ABS system.

BMW Motorrad Product Manager, Sepp Mächler, emphasized the importance of achieving the best handling for this segment while combining strong performance and optimal accessibility. The F 450 GS is designed to provide a thrilling riding experience, whether on city streets or rugged terrains.

Launch Timeline and Expected Price

The concept bike is expected to go into production in 2025, with BMW hinting at competitive pricing to take on rivals like the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the KTM 390 ADV R. The company is also considering manufacturing the bike at its plant in Hosur, near Bengaluru, which could further enhance its affordability. We can expect it to launch in the latter half of 2025 or early 2026. It should be priced around INR 4.5 to 5 lakh.
