BMW Motorrad has launched the R18 Cruiser bike in India. The BMW R18 is priced at INR 31.50 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be sold in three variants – the R18, R18 Classic and the top of the line R18 Transcontinental.

The R18 is a typical American-style tourer. Of these, the R18 Transcontinental is the biggest and the most muscular bike. It comes with a large handle-secured fairing, a windshield and wind deflectors. Noteworthy is the fact that the fairing, deflectors, pillion seats and touring storage cases are colour matched. The bike rides on cast alloy wheels.
In terms of frame, the bike gets a double-cradle frame with a teardrop-shaped fuel tank. The tank features twin pinstriped and round mirrors are offered as well. The driveshaft is an exposed unit with nickel plating.
Powertrain of the BMW Motorrad R18 Transcontinental
BMW has equipped this touring bike with the 1,802cc air/oil-cooled engine. This two-cylinder boxer unit makes 90 BHP @ 4,750 rpm and a peak torque of 158 Nm @ 3,000 rpm. This engine sends power to the rear wheels via a 6-speed gearbox. Owners can also opt for an optional reverse gear.
The rider can choose amongst three modes – Rain, Roll and Rock.
Features of the BMW Motorrad R18 Transcontinental
The bike also comes with a large 10.25-inch TFT colour screen, active cruise control, auto stability control, dynamic engine brake control, hill start control and keyless ride along with adaptive LED headlamps.
Apart from this, the Transcontinental also comes with a direct mounted cantilever suspension. This strut gets travel-dependent ramping action and an adjustable spring preload. Braking duties are handled by twin disc brakes at the front and a single disc at the back.
In other news, BMW Motorrad has brought in Gallops Motorrad as its new dealer facility in Surat, Gujarat. With this, Gallops Motorrad is now available with BMW Motorrad in Ahmedabad and Surat. The dealership facility’s address reads as, G/4 and G/5, The Lenora, Vesu, Majura, Surat, Gujarat. Mr. Tanuj Pugalia, Dealer Principal, Gallops Motorrad will head this facility.
