BMW Motorrad launches electric CE 02 in India at INR 4,49,900

BMW Motorrad has launched the new BMW CE 02 in India at the starting price of INR 4,49,900 ex-showroom. The brand’s second all-electric motorcycle the CE 02 not only comes with a quirky graffiti style design but also features a powerful powertrain equivalent of a 200cc internal combustion engine motorcycle. The electric bike also comes with plenty of safety as well as convenience features.

Design and Features

The BMW Motorrad CE 02 comes with large 14-inch wheels with fat 120/80 front and 150/70 tyres that give the CE 02 the look of a large urban cruiser. The CE 02 also comes with flat surfaces along with matte and gloss combination as well as brights colour themes. The electric bike also comes with a sharp rake on the front and very short overhangs on the rear. In addition to this, the CE 02 features a long and thin seat inspired by a skateboard. Also, the BMW Motorrad CE 02 comes with a minimalist 3.5-inch instruments display, three riding modes – “Flow”, “Surf” and “Flash”, Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Recuperation Stability Control (RSC) and a BMW Motorrad ABS. The CE 02 also gets Electric Reverse, Keyless Ride as well as Power Saving Mode.

Powertrain and Performance

Powering the BMW Motorrad CE 02 are two lithium ion batteries with a combined energy content of  3.9 kWh coupled to an 11 kW current excited synchronous motor that delivers 15 Hp of power and 55 Nm of torque. BMW Motorrad claims that the battery pack is capable of delivering a range of 108 km on a single charge, according to the ICAT charging cycle. The BMW CE 02 is also capable of sprinting from 0-50 kmph in just 3 seconds. Also the electric bike is capable of achieving a top speed of 95 kmph. The bike comes standard with a 0.9 kW external charger. With a 1.5 kW charger the bike is capable of achieving a 20%-80% SOC in just 102 minutes.
