If the standard BMW M5 was not exciting enough, BMW has launched the new M5 Competition here in India priced at INR 1.55 crore ex-showroom. Obviously this is a petrol powered sports sedan and will be brought to India as a CBU. Bookings for the new M5 Competition are open across all BMW showrooms in India.
Powering the BMW M5 Competition is a 4,395cc, 8-cylinder, TwinPower turbocharged petrol motor producing 625 HP of peak power at 6000 RPM and a massive 750 Nm of torque generated between 1800-5860 RPM. The engine comes matched to an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic gearbox backed by an M xDrive all-wheel drive system with an active M differential. What makes the M5 Competition special is that it comes with 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD driving modes for the xDrive along with the standard Comfort, Sport and Sport+ settings. The car comes with a M-specific suspension setup and launch control to leave the competition behind. BMW claims that the M5 Competition can sprint from 0-100 kmph in just 3.3 seconds.
What the competition pack adds is new kidney grille, new side gills, new mirror caps, new rear spoiler, new rear diffuser in gloss black, M5 Competition badge in black and floor mats with M5 Competition branding. The M exhaust system comes with a new flap which reduces the backpressure for better efficiency and also delivers a very distinct sound to the M5 Competition. Yes the M5 Competition is a sporty car by intent, but the EfficientDynamics brings coasting, brake energy regeneration, auto start-stop function, etc to the table to improve fuel economy.
This version will be available in white, black, 2 shades of grey and 3 shades of blue exteiror paint options. BMW will also offer optional individual paint finishes which include black, grey, brown and silver shades. And there’s more to decide from in the special paintwork list as well. On the inside, the BMW M5 Competition will also come in a long list of upholstery colour combination with Merino leather.
