BMW launches X3 M40i in India at INR 86,50,000

BMW has brought in the X3 M40i. This will retail at INR 86.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This is the performance-oriented version of the X3 SUV that shares its powertrain with the BMW M340i sedan. This product is available in limited numbers, thus the product will be in much demand. The X3 M40i comes to India via the CBU route. The bookings for the X3 M40i are currently underway for a token amount of INR 5 lakh.

BMW X3 M40i Exterior Outlook

The X3 M40i arrives with the M Sport package as standard. Thus it comes fitted with M-specific kidney grilles, headlights, wing mirrors and tailpipes. It also comes with dual-tone and 20-inch alloy wheels. The window surrounds, roof rails and slats on the kidney grille are too done in black. The red-painted brake calipers make the SUV even more striking. Customers can have the sporty SUV two-colour shade options. First is the Brooklyn Grey and second is the Black Sapphire colour.

BMW X3 M40i Interior And Features

On the Inside, the X3 M40i uses an all-black treatment. Meanwhile, the standard X3 gets a dual-tone treatment with beige or brown combined with black. As part of the M Sport package, the steering wheel gets an M colour stitching, an M badge at the bottom, and M-specific seat belts.

Talking of the features, there’s a 12.3-inch touchscreen that runs BMW’s iDrive 7 operating system. This comes fitted with a Harmon Kardon sound system. The SUV also benefits from a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, triple-zone climate control, ambient lighting and a heads-up display.

BMW X3 M40i Engine Highlights

The X3 M40i uses a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. This motor makes 360 HP, which is 14 HP less than the M340i. But, the torque figure remained the same at 500 Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. In terms of performance, BMW claims the X3 M40i can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 4.9 seconds.

Given the sporty M badge, the SUV also gets M-specific performance bits. This includes an adaptive suspension, variable sport steering, differential with performance control (differential locks) and M Sport brakes.

BMW X3 M40i Other Options

As of now, the X3 M40i has no direct rival. But with respect to its performance, its closest option is the Porsche Macan S. This comes with a 2.9-litre, twin-turbocharged V6 engine making 380 HP and 520Nm.
