BMW launches X1 sDrive18i M Sport in India at INR 48,90,000

BMW has brought in the X1 sDrive 18i M Sport variant for India. It retails at an ex-showroom price of INR 48.90 lakh (ex-showroom). With this price tag, this position itself in the middle of the X1 line-up. It gets the powertrain along with most of the features of the xLine variant. In addition to this, it also gets additional features like active seat adjustment for front passengers and a Harman Kardon-tuned sound system.

BMW X1 sDrive 18i M Sport Exterior Highlights

The most significant difference between the two X1 sDrive 18i variants is the equipped body kit. The new variant benefits from an M Sport-specific body kit. With this, it equips M-specific front and rear bumpers. We also get to see gloss black slats in the kidney grilles and M-specific 18-inch alloy wheels. There are also blacked-out window surrounds and roof rails that add to the touch. Customers can have the M Sport variant in M Portimao Blue and Storm Bay Grey colour shade options.

Until now, the M Sport body kit was only available with the diesel engine, i.e., sDrive 18d M Sport. This new variant is now also available with a petrol power unit. Noteworthy to mention, the diesel is only available with the M Sport package, unlike the petrol which is also available with the xLine package.

BMW X1 sDrive 18i M Sport Interior And Key Features

On the inside, we see the new variant gets an M Sport steering wheel with shift paddles. Interestingly BMW has also equipped an anthracite headliner. Furthermore, the M Sport variant also benefits from electrical seat adjustment for the front occupants and rear seat adjustment up to 130mm.

In terms of features over the xLine variant, BMW has equipped the M Sport with a 12-speaker system tuned by Harman Kardon. Other common features on both variants include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen running iDrive 8 operating system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity,  wireless charging and more.

BMW X1 sDrive 18i M Sport Powertrain Details

Under the hood, there are no changes. Thus the two sDrive 18i variants remain the same. The X1 sDrive 18i M Sport gets a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder engine that makes 136 HP and 230 Nm of torque. This is available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, sending power to the front wheels. BMW claims the petrol X1 can do a 0-100 kmph dash in 9.2 seconds. Talking of the fuel efficiency figures, it gets an ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of 16.13kpl.

BMW X1 Rival Options

The X1 will lock its horns against the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3, Volvo XC40 and Mini Countryman.
