BMW launches new 7th-generation 3-Series (G20) in India for INR 41.4 lakh

BMW has today launched the all-new 3-series sedan in India. This model is the 7th-generation 3-Series and also known by the codename G20. For the Indian market, BMW has introduced the 330i and 320d models priced at INR 41.4 lakh onwards, ex-showroom. The 3-series sedan has been on sale globally for more than 40 years and rivals the likes of Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4. More than 15 million units of the 3-series have been sold worldwide till date and was first launched in 1975. The 2019 BMW 3-Series is available in 2 diesel variants (320d Sport & 320d Luxury Line) and a single 330i M Sport petrol variant. The new 3-Series will be locally produced at the Chennai plant.

Variants:

  • BMW 320d Sport – INR 41.40 lakh
  • BMW 320d Luxury Line – INR 46.90 lakh
  • BMW 33oi M Sport – INR 47.90 lakh

Powering the BMW 330i is a 2.0L, 4-cylinder petrol motor matched to an 8-speed steptronic sport automatic gearbox. This variant has a power output of 258 HP @ 5000 RPM and 400 Nm @ 1550-4400 RPM. It can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 5.8 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kmph. BMW claims that the petrol 3-Series 330i can deliver 16.13 kmpl of mileage. The diesel BMW 320d with a twin-turbocharged 2.0L, 4-cylinder motor is also matched to an 8-speed steptronic sport automatic gearbox. This engine produces 190 HP of power @ 4000 RPM and 400 Nm of torque @ 1750-2500 RPM. BMW claims that the 320d can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 6.8 seconds, has a top speed of 243 kmph and can deliver 19.62 kmpl of mileage.

The 2019 BMW 3-Series is 76mm longer than before now at 4709mm, 16mm wider than before now at 1827mm and 1mm taller than before now at 1442mm. The wheelbase of the sedan is now 41mm longer now at 2851mm allowing for more room in the cabin. With the weight reduced by close to 55 kg, the new BMW 3-Series has a drag coefficient of just 0.23 cd. The 320d runs on 17″ alloy wheels while the 330i runs on 18″ alloy wheels. On the outside, the new German luxury sedan features all LED lighting, black & chrome accents, sharkfin antenna, dual exhaust tips, a wide kidney grille and true keyless entry. Inside, you get a full digital Live Cockpit instrument console with integrated maps, touchscreen iDrive infotainment with a 205W 10 speaker sound system, leather upholstery, automatic climate control, electric seats, and all that you might expect in a car of this class including a sunroof.

Safety features include dual front airbags, head & side airbags, ABS with BA, cornering brake control, stability control, traction control, crash sensors, immobilizer, TPMS, and more… The reversing assistant feature remembers the steering inputs for the last 50 meters till you parked the vehicle, and will reverse the car out easily at a max speed of 5.5 kmph
