BMW launches M340i xDrive 50 Jahre M Edition at INR 68,90,000

BMW recently announced that as a part of M Performance’s 50th-anniversary celebrations, it will launch 10 50 Jahre M Edition cars in India. And now, the first of the ten models have arrived. BMW India today launched the M340i xDrive 50 Jahre M Edition in India. The company locally produces the M340i xDrive at its Chennai plant. BMW also claims it is the quickest car to be produced in the country. 

The new special edition M340i will cost INR 68,90,000 ex-showroom. Furthermore, it will be exclusively available online through BMW’s website. BMW says prospective buyers can now book the car using the website. However, the company did not announce when the deliveries will start. 

BMW M340i xDrive 50 Jahre M Edition – Highlights

The new special edition M340i will be available in two exclusive BMW Individual paint schemes – Dravit Grey and Tanzanite Blue. BMW has given a host of exclusive 50 Jahre M Edition touches to the M340i. Starting with the kidney grille, which now gets a High-Gloss Black finish. The window surrounds, and mirror caps of the special edition also get a new Jet-black finish. The model rides on new 19-inch M Light alloy wheels with special 50 Jahre M roundels on the wheel hub caps. The front and rear of the M340i also get the exclusive 50 Jahre M badging.

On the inside, the car features sports seats with M-specific upholstery in a Senseatec/Alcantara trim. They provide great lateral support and also a wide range of adjustability. Further adding to the ambience are the Anthracite BMW Individual roof liner and the BMW Individual High-Gloss Shadow Line elements. The M340i also gets an M leather steering wheel with paddle-shifters and M seat belts. BMW’s Welcome Light Carpet projects lights from the side sill, welcoming the passengers in style.

The model will also be available with two exclusive and optional ’50 Years of M’ packages – Motorsport Pack and Carbon Pack. The former includes M Performance Steering Wheel, Selector Gear knob in Alcantara, Rear Spoiler in Matt Black and more. Meanwhile, the Carbon Pack includes Carbon Fibre interior trims, Selector Gear knob in Carbon Fibre, M Performance Steering wheel and more.

BMW M340i xDrive 50 Jahre M Edition – Technical Specifications

Powering the M340i xDrive is a 2,998cc straight-six engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. With an output of 387 HP and 500 Nm, it guarantees a sporty driving experience. The M Sport exhaust unit further enhances the experience with the characteristic straight-six sound. The M340i xDrive accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.4 seconds. Thus, making it the quickest car to be produced in India. 

The M340i also benefits from BMW’s intelligent all-wheel-drive technology, xDrive. The performance sedan also sports exclusive suspension components such as the M Sport suspension, variable sport steering and M Sport brakes. The model’s M Sport differential also optimises traction and driving stability for different road surfaces, when changing lanes and when accelerating out of corners.
