BMW 740i M Key Highlights

Design Language

The new 7 Series uses BMW’s CLAR platform extensively. Thus we get to see a new design direction from the brand. The 2023 7-Series  for the first time gets a split headlamp design. Starting with the design, the new 7 Series certainly looks much bolder than ever before. This is with a larger grille and a split headlamp design with daytime running lamps along the edge of the bonnet. While the main light clusters sit lower down on the bumper.

The 7 Series retains the traditional three-box sedan design and thus carries forward its peculiar shoulder line running the length of the vehicle. On the back, the tail lamps are slimmer than the outgoing model. Now it also gets new LED light guides while the bumper too is new.

Interiors

On the Inside, we see a host of changes from the previous-gen model. The layered dashboard now gets new touch-sensitive controls on the centre console. Meanwhile, the central touchscreen and digital instrument cluster now house in a free-standing single-piece curved unit.

The digital instrument cluster however is still a familiar 12.3-inch unit. But the touchscreen is now upsized to 14.9 inches and runs the latest BMW iDrive 8. Rear seat occupants meanwhile enjoy individual tablets built into the doors. This is to control functions such as seat reclining. The 7 Series has also grown in size as compared to the outgoing model. The new-gen luxury flagship is longer and wider than the outgoing model.

Engine And Powertrain

With the BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, the petrol engine of the BMW 740i M Sport pushes out maximum power with exemplary efficiency. This helps in offering spontaneous responsiveness even at low engine speeds. The three-litre six-cylinder engine makes an output of 381 HP and a maximum torque of 520 Nm. The car can go from 0 to 100 km/hr in just 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/hr. The equipped eight-speed Steptronic transmission performs smooth and imperceptible gearshifts. The diesel engine will arrive later on, as confirmed by BMW. The new 7 Series goes up against the likes of the Mercedes S-class and the Audi A8 L in the Indian market.
