BMW launches 520d M Sport in India at INR 68.90 lakh

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

BMW India has updated its 5 Series line-up. The German carmaker has now launched a new variant and at the same time deleted some existing variants. The new variant from BMW is the 520d in M Sport guise. The price tag for the sedan is set at INR 68.90 lakh. The discontinued variant from the 5 series lineup is the 520d Luxury Line and the limited-run 50 Jahre Edition.

More significantly, BMW has parted its ways from the 3.0-litre diesel from the 5 Series line-up. In fact, it has also delisted the range-topping M5 Competition from the website. The petrol 530i M Sport, however, is available for retail and it comes with a price tag of INR 65.40 lakh. After the variant rework, the executive luxury sedan is now only available in four-cylinder petrol and diesel powertrains.

BMW 520d M Sport What Are The Changes?

The key change from the now-discontinued Luxury Line, the 520d M Sport is the sportier-looking exterior. The new model gets more aggressively styled front and rear bumpers. It also benefits from 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome exhausts and M-specific elements like blue brake calipers and M badges on the fender.

On the inside, we get to see changes like M-badged door sills and M-spec leather steering wheel. It also gets a few add-ons kits over the Luxury Line like BMW’s Laserlight technology. Other notable features on the 520d M Sport include a heads-up display, a Harman Kardon sound system, a 360-degree camera and wireless phone charging.

As mentioned, there is no change in the mechanical department. It carries forward with the same 190 HP, 2.0-litre diesel engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

BMW 520d M Sport Other Options

The BMW 5 Series will compete against the other luxury sedans in the market. This includes the likes of the Audi A6, Lexus ES, Volvo S90, Jaguar XF and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
