BMW recently launched its first electric SUV in the Indian market, dubbed the iX. The electric SUV competes directly with the Mercedes-Benz EQC, the brand’s first all-electric SUV in the Indian market. Powering the BMW iX xDrive40 is an integrated drive unit. The electric motor can produce up to 326 hp of power. The motor is capable of propelling the electric car from 0-100 kmph in just 6.1 seconds. BMW offers the car a single-speed gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system. The SUV features two high-voltage batteries integrated into the floor with a combined output of 76.6 kWh. The battery is capable of returning a range of up to 425 kilometres. Charging time takes from 10 to 80 per cent of its full capacity in under 40 minutes. At an 11 kW airbox from 0 to 100 per cent in 11 hours.
The Mercedes-Benz EQC 400 4Matic, on the other hand, comes with two asynchronous electric motors. Combined, the electric motors produce 408 HP of power. The power unit channels the power to all four wheels using a 4Matic all-wheel-driveline. The car comes with an 80 kW battery that returns a range of 471 km on a single charge. The Mercedes-Benz EQC takes 7 hours 30 minutes from 10% to 100% SOC to charge at the new 11 kW wallbox charger.

The BMW iX measures 4953mm in length, 1967mm in width, 1695mm in height and comes with a wheelbase of 3000mm. The Mercedes-Benz EQC comes with 4762mm in length, 1884mm in width, 1624mm in height and a wheelbase of 2873mm.

In terms of features, the BMW iX comes with Shy Tech that includes an Intelligent BMW kidney grille with sensors, a camera and radar tech. The car also gets proximity sensors, and flush-mounted door handles. The iX xDrive 40 also comes with a 14.9-inch Control Display and a 12.3-inch digital instruments cluster. The car also gets a BMW Head-up Display and BMW Connected Car technology. BMW also comes with Wireless Charging technology, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Mercedes-Benz EQC comes with features such as a 12.3-inch digital instrument screen. The car also comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment system in a twin display format. Mercedes-Benz offers the latest-generation MBUX operating system and connected car features. The EQC also gets active air intake and all LED lighting.
