BMW has increased the prices of the new X1’s diesel variant. This is the X1 sDrive 18d M Sport which gets dearer by INR 3 lakh. With the hike in effect, the SUV now retails for INR 50.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Interestingly enough there is no change in the price of the petrol-powered X1.
The German carmaker also clarified that the customers who booked the X1 at introductory prices will most likely get their deliveries in April and May. When comparing the prices of the diesel X1 with the Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d, the BMW is now a good INR 90,000 more expensive. Currently, the Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d is its only diesel-powered rival to the X1 in this segment. Here’s a detailed look at how the BMW X1 is priced after the hike:
BMW X1 Exterior And Interior Highlights
We first saw the third-generation X1 at the third BMW Joytown festival in January. With the generation update, the SUV is now larger than its predecessor in all dimensions. Other changes include a new, slightly larger grille. The bumper too now carries a lot more angular creases with blacked-out inserts. The headlamps are much sleeker than before and get BMW’s new inverted L-shaped Daytime Running Lamps. On the side profile, we see the X1 getting the flush-fitting door handles. It also now drives on 18-inch alloys. For the rear end, the SUV gets L-shaped wraparound LED tail lamps and a sculpted tailgate.
The most noticeable change in the X1 however is the new curved display. This is similar to the one we see on the BMW X7, 7 series and 3 Series Gran Limousine. The floating centre console gets a few physical buttons. The slim AC vents are now neatly integrated into the dash.
BMW X1 Powertrain And Performance Highlights
Customers in India can have the new X1 available with petrol (sDrive 18i) and diesel (sDrive 18d) engine options. The former is available only in the xLine trim. On the other side, the latter is only available with the M Sport trim. The petrol is a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder motor that makes 136 HP and 230 Nm of torque. Whereas the diesel motor is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder unit making out 150 HP and 360 Nm of torque. The petrol engine gets a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the diesel is matched to a 7-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
BMW claims the new petrol X1 can do a 0-100 kmph run in 9.2 seconds. Meanwhile, the diesel version can achieve the same in 8.9 seconds. The petrol X1 gives an ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of 16.13 kmpl. On the other hand, diesel offers a mileage of 20.37 kmpl.
