BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS – End of the road
What appears to be, is the end of the road for the BMW-TVS joint venture’s first platform. Citing to the end of the lifecycle for the 310cc platform, BMW has silently discontinued its naked and adventure bikes based on the TVS made platform.
Why so? It is because the 310 engine has served its time, and both manufacturers are soon going to replace its 310 models with the new pipeline of powertrain.
As per a report published online, BMW dealerships have not received any fresh batch of motorcycles since January 2025. This means that the brand is not going to update these bikes with the OBD-2B emission update.
Hence, nationwide, BMW has silently axed the 310 motorcycles, leaving the G 310 RR as the only leftover product based on this platform. We assume that BMW will keep selling the G 310 RR for the next few months.
So, what now? Well, BMW showcased its upcoming F 450 GS adventure bike concept at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, and also claimed that it will launch this new entry-level BMW by the end of this year.
Therefore, 2025 end will possibly witness a change in BMW’s motorcycle lineup in India, as the new 450 twin-cylinder platform is set to become the entry point for buyers.
Moving on, TVS is also planning to axe its 310cc platform with its new upcoming 300cc engine, which is said to be more refined and powerful. The first bikes based on this platform will be the RTX-D4 model lineup.

Our verdict
The 310cc bikes from BMW did not see big sales figures, and therefore, it seems reasonable to discontinue these products. We believe that the 450 platform suits the brand’s image as well as the performance factor that BMW buyers look for.
