BMW F850 GS Adventure motorcycled launched at INR 15.4 lakh

BMW Motorrad has launched the off-road focused F850 GS Adventure in India. The adventure bike is available only in the top-trim ‘Pro’ variant which costs INR 40,000 more than the standard bike. The booking of the BMW F850 GS Adventure has commenced and the bike is priced at INR 15.4 lakh ex-showroom, India and rivals the Triumph Tiger XCA.

The BMW F850 GS Adventure gets a front beak, tall windscreen, tank cowls, engine guard, radiator shrouds, luggage racks, etc. The F850 GS Adventure also features longer suspension and a large 23-litre fuel tank. The standard model has a 15-litre tank. The bike body design is also slightly revised and it is heavier than the standard version by 15 kg.

The engine powering the BMW F850 GS is a 853cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, inline twin-cylinder with 4-valves per cylinder with DOHC. The engine produces 95 HP of power @ 8250 RPM and 92 Nm of torque @6250 RPM. The transmission is a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox integrated with the crankcase and has a slipper assist clutch.

The engine is enclosed in a steel-shell bridge type frame and rides on 43mm upside down forks on the front and cast aluminium dual swing arm, central WAD spring strut with hydraulically adjustable spring pre-load and an adjustable rebound damping on the rear. The WAD refers to ‘travel related damping’ which is used in the off-road world and BMW Motorrad has adopted and perfected this principle. The front suspension can travel 230mm and the rear can travel 215mm.

The bike is equipped with 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels with a cross spoked rim. The brakes are dual floating 305mm disc brakes on the front and a single 265mm disc on the rear and the brakes are equipped with a disengageable ABS.

The BMW F850 GS Adventure is offered with the following electronics package:-

  • Two Riding Modes
  • ABS and ASC (Automatic Stability Control)
  • Traction Control

The other electronic features include a 6.5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity.

The bike is offered in three colour variants

  • Rallye Style (Light white, Racing red and Lupin blue metallic onto the motorcycle with gold-anodised rims)
  • Racing Red
  • Exclusive Style (Pollux Metallic matte colour)
