BMW has commenced production of the CE 02 electric scooter at the TVS plant in Hosur. The move was announced at an event celebrating 10 years of the two brands partnership.

BMW Motorrad CE 02 : More Details

The CE 02 is a funky looking futuristic scooter. This electric scooter gets a double-loop tubular frame underpinning. The front suspension consists of upside-down forks while the rear gets a monoshock.

The rear wheel is mounted on a single sided swingarm and the motor drives the wheel via a belt. Stopping power comes from a 296mm disc up front with single-channel ABS offered as standard.

Powertrain of the BMW Motorrad CE 02

BMW has equipped this quirky scooter with dual 2 kWh battery packs and an electric motor rated at 15 BHP. The top speed is claimed to be 95 km/h while the range is said to be 90 km on a single charge. BMW says one of the battery packs can be removed, but it will halve the range to 45 km. Further, top speed is also reduced to 45 km/h.

A 0-100% full charge will take 5 hours 12 mins using the standard 0.9 kW standard charger. A faster 1.5 kW charger will reduce the charging time to 3 hours 30 mins.

BMW-TVS partnership

The Indo-German pair have worked on developing the TVS Apache RR310 / BMW G 310R. It is possible that the bike makers could be exploring a collaborative effort for this electric scooter as well. A while back, the CE 02 was spotted testing in India.

As of now, the company has not yet announced the scooter’s launch in India.
