BMW ActiveHybrid 7 launched at Rs. 1.35 crore

BMW has launched the AciveHybrid 7 in India, priced at Rs. 1.35 crore (Ex-Showroom).

The BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is available at BMW dealerships in Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Chennai as a CBU starting from 23/07/2014. This is India’s first hybrid luxury sedan and had made its first appearance at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show.

The ActiveHybrid 7 is powered by a 3.0L 6-cylinder petrol engine producing 320 BHP of power and 450 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled with a 40 kW electric motor which produces additional 55 BHP of power and a total system output torque of 500 Nm. The motor is mated to an 8-speed ZF gearbox powering the rear wheels of the car. In pure electric mode, the ActiveHybrid 7 can be driven for up to four kilometres at a speed of 60 kmph without generating local emissions. 0 – 100 kmph is achieved in 5.7 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited at 250 kmph.

BMW claims a fuel efficiency figure of 13.85 kmpl with the ActiveHybrid 7.  The 7 Series is also available in three more variants: 730 Ld, 750 Li and 760 Li.

Features such as the adaptive LED headlamps, 19″ rims, large size folding tables on the front seat backrest, massage function for rear passengers, automatic tailgate release, climate control at the front and rear, rear seat entertainment with two 23.3cm colour screens etc. make their way to the Hybrid variant.
