BMW 5 Series LWB new alloy wheel update details
Not long ago, BMW introduced the new-gen 5 Series LWB sedan in India. With a new design, longer wheelbase, and more luxury, it ticked all the right boxes, but there was one strong con – the alloy wheels.
The new-gen 5 Series sedan came equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, which looked small for the size and length of the car. In fact, the initial feedback BMW received from the media was regarding the size of the wheels themselves.
However, the company had deliberately opted for the smaller size by taking into account the bad road conditions, as BMW did not want to hurt the supple ride quality of the new 5 Series. But, the company knew that customers would ask for it, hence it gave the option to shift to the 19-inch alloy wheels.
Going forward, the company has now equipped the 5 Series with the 19-inch wheels as standard. The reason? Customer feedback. In fact, most customers were opting for the 19-inch wheels while configuring their car, hence BMW has revised the overall aesthetics of the 5 Series LWB with the new wheels.
Some insight on the new 5 Series LWB: It is only available with a 2.0-litre petrol engine, and it is the only sedan with a long-wheelbase, after the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The pricing of the new 5 Series LWB is Rs 74.40 lakh (ex-showroom).
Our verdict
The BMW 5 Series LWB is more of a style statement for car enthusiasts. With the new-gen model, BMW has upgraded the 5 Series in every possible way. The new 19-inch wheels now offer a more pleasing look to its overall design.
