German luxury automaker BMW has announced the launch of its 220i ‘Black Shadow’ edition for the Indian market. Production of the 220i ‘Black Shadow’ edition will take place locally at the BMW Group Plant in Chennai. Priced at INR 43.5 lakh (ex-showroom), BMW will offer the limited edition coupe via their official online website. BMW Group India has also ensured to offer the special edition 220i with ‘M’ performance parts for enhanced sportiness.
2021 BMW 220i M Sport ‘Black Shadow’ edition: Financial & Service Options
To enhance the exclusivity of the ‘Black Shadow’ edition, BMW Group India offers the ‘high-gloss shadow line’ package. Priced at INR 3.25 lakhs, BMW plans to sell the unique individualization content alongside its ‘M Performance’ parts. BMW Group India will offer the ‘Black Shadow’ edition kit at an exclusive price for its first 24 customers.
Based on individual customer requirements, BMW India Financial Services will offer specially designed, customizable, and flexible financial services. With an all-inclusive INR 50,999 per month, BMW’s 360-degree financial plan enables customers to avail a 4-year assured buyback. Along with flexible term-end options, the plan also includes exclusive interest rates for a limited period.
Additionally, BMW’s Service Inclusive and Service Inclusive Plus further reduce the overall cost of ownership. Based on their duration and mileage, customers can choose a variety of service plans covering Condition Based Service (CBS). BMW’s Service Inclusive Packages contain plans ranging from 3-year /40,000 km to 10-year/2,00,000 km.
Priced at INR 47,318, these plans are extendable via a differential amount. On the BMW 220i ‘Black Edition’, a 3-year, unlimited mileage warranty costs INR 37,878, which is extendable to 6 years. Meanwhile, customers can extend the repair inclusive warranty from its 3rd year of operation to a maximum 6th year.
2021 BMW 220i M Sport ‘Black Shadow’ edition: Design Details
BMW offers the 220i special edition with a high-gloss black, mesh-style, M front grille to provide a distinctive visual appeal. The 220i M Sport special edition sports black exterior mirror caps along with a BMW ‘M Performance’ rear spoiler. Additionally, BMW offers new black chrome tailpipe finishers and Jet Black, 18-inch, M Performance, Y-Spoke Styling, 554 M forged wheels. The wheels also feature the BMW Floating hub cap to keep the BMW logo levelled at all times. These exterior elements aid the 220i special edition to produce better aerodynamics and reduce lift.
2021 BMW 220i M Sport ‘Black Shadow’ edition: Powertrain Details
Powering the 220i special edition is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine producing 190 PS and 280 Nm. Paired to a 7-speed, Steptronic sport automatic transmission, the 220i M Sport achieves 0-100 kph in 7.1 seconds. BMW also offers the sports car with Launch Control technology, paddle shifters on the steering wheel, and auto-braking cruise control. To reduce understeer and enhance driving dynamics, BMW offers ARB technology which works in conjunction with DSC (Driving Stability Control). BMW also offers three driving modes- ECO PRO, Comfort, and Sport for an optimized driving feel.
2021 BMW 220i M Sport ‘Black Shadow’ edition: Interior and Safety Features
The 220i’s interior sports ‘BMW ConnectedDrive technologies along with BMW Live Cockpit Professional provides a host of features. These include a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, a 10.25-inch Control Display, 3D Navigation, and a BMW Virtual Assistant. The 220i also features a BMW Gesture Control, which recognizes six pre-defined hand movements to control various functions.
Additionally, the car features a Parking Assistant with Rear View Camera, a Reversing Assistant, six airbags, and Attentiveness Assistance. The 220i also features BMW Safety technologies, including Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), and ABS. Other safety features include Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), side-impact protection, and an electronic vehicle immobilizer.
