Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has launched its most advanced construction and mining truck range yet under the BharatBenz brand, aimed at supporting India’s infrastructure growth. The new HX and Torqshift series were unveiled following extensive real-world trials and are now available across BharatBenz’s 385 dealer touchpoints nationwide.
With India’s construction and mining equipment sector projected to grow from $16 billion to $45 billion by 2030, BharatBenz is positioning itself to meet the surge in demand for durable, high-performance trucks.
HX Series: Built for construction toughness
The HX range includes the 2828C HX and 3532C HX models, designed for heavy-duty construction tasks. Key highlights:
- Powertrains: 280 hp/1100 Nm and 320 hp/1250 Nm
- Gradeability: Up to 60% (2828C) and 54% (3532C)
- Features: Hill Hold Assist, wind deflector, unitized front axle bearings
- Safety: EU ECE R29-03 compliant cabin, driver state monitoring
These trucks are engineered for maximum uptime, low maintenance, and best-in-class drivability, making them ideal for fleet operators looking to modernize aging assets.
Torqshift Series: AMT for mining efficiency
For mining applications, BharatBenz has introduced the Torqshift 2832CM and 3532CM variants. These trucks feature a globally proven Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) system that delivers:
- Zero-lag gear shifts
- Reduced driver fatigue
- Faster turnaround times (TAT)
- Improved fuel economy
The AMT system, sourced from Mercedes-Benz’s global portfolio, is expected to be localized once volumes scale up.
RMC and Specialized Applications
The 2828C RMC variant caters to the ready-mix concrete segment with a 9-cubic meter drum and the same 280 hp/1100 Nm engine. It’s built to handle challenging terrain while ensuring reliable concrete delivery.
Technology and Support Infrastructure
BharatBenz’s new range is backed by a robust ecosystem:
- 15,000-hour annual maintenance contracts
- Advanced Uptime Center with predictive diagnostics
- Factory-fitted features like GPS, reverse cameras, and diff locks
- Bolster bogie suspension, improved approach angles, and G131 HD transmission for extreme conditions
