Benelli TRK 502 drops weight, gets new features

Benelli has given the 2022 model year version of the TRK 502 updates for the Chinese market. The China version of the bike is different in a number of ways from the bike available in Europe and China. Expect the other markets to get the updates as well. The Italian bike maker will most likely bring this new version to India soon. However, we can’t say when. The TRK received price hikes recently, so expect the newer version’s price to say the same. Although, given the updates, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Benelli hikes them further.

2022 Benelli TRK 502 – What’s New?

Firstly, Benelli reduced the weight of the adventure-touring motorcycle by 3.6 kg. The weight savings come from the use of a lighter aluminium alloy swingarm. According to the company, the new swingarm is also more robust than the older steel unit. 

In addition to this, the bike also gets a different and updated switchgear. The new switchgear supposedly offers a better feel and usability than before. Also standard on the bike are spoke wheels that can be had with tubeless tyres. Other new additions include a full-colour TFT screen, tire pressure sensors and heated grips. The features list is pretty impressive for its segment.

2022 Benelli TRK 502 – Technical Specifications

Mechanically, the 2022 TRK 502 remains identical to the previous versions. Hence, it will continue to use the same 500cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. The twin-cylinder engine produces 47.5 PS at 8500 rpm and 46 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. The transmission used is a 6-speed unit. 

The Benelli TRK 502 will also continue to sport the same suspension setup. The current one uses 50mm upside-down forks at the front with 135mm of travel. At the rear, the bike gets a swingarm-mounted monoshock. Additionally, the rear suspension also gets adjustability for preload and rebound damping. 

As for braking hardware, it uses 320mm dual discs at the front and a single 260mm disc at the rear. The TRK 502 rides on a 120-section front and a 160-section rear tyre. Given its adventure-touring positioning, it also gets a large 20-litre fuel tank.
