Benelli could update TRK 502 & TRK 502x with new colour displays

Benelli is likely to upgrade the Benelli TRK 502 and the TRK 502x with a new fully digital colour instruments console. The brand is likely to introduce the updated motorcycle in the Chinese market first where it is sold as the Qianjiang BJ500GS. The Benelli is due a BS6 update in India as well and the brand might update the TRK 502 and the TRK 502x with a new BS6 emission compliant engine as well as the updated colour LCD screen. Other updates may also include optimisations to its seats, handlebars and mirrors. 

The model presently sold in the Indian market features a semi-digital instruments cluster with an analogue tachometer to the left and an LCD display to the right surrounded by telltale lights. The LCD screen shows information such as speed, fuel level, engine temperature, odometer, trip, time etc but is still outdated by current standards. The KTM 390 Duke which costs nearly half the price of the Benelli TRK 502 and still comes with a full-colour TFT display which shows a plethora of information and features.

The new display is likely to arrive with the new model line-up and is likely to continue with the same design features such as the beak on the front, a large tank with plastic cladding & radiator shrouds, step-up split seats, steel trellis frame, long-travel upside-down front suspension, monoshock on the rear, a small luggage rack on the pillion grab rail, alloy wheels on the TRK 502 and off-road friendly spoke-wire rims on the TRK 502x. 

In the engine department, the BS4 spec TRK 502 and TRK 502x share the same powertrain and are powered by a 500cc parallel twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve DOHC motor with electronic fuel injection that produces 47.5 PS of power and 46 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox. 

As of now, there is very little information about the colour LCD display but it is likely to be around 5-inches in size.
