Big news from the house of Triumph India. As per an official press release Bajaj will take control of all sales and service operations for Triumph in India. This move comes as a part of the strategic partnership announced by both companies a few years ago. In addition to this, the collaboration also involves Bajaj and Triumph developing new entry-level mid-capacity Triumph models together. This motorcycle will use the Bajaj manufacturing facility at its Chakan facility.
After this announcement, Triumph’s India operations will now come under Bajaj’s Probiking business. This is currently being headed by Sumeet Narang.
First Bajaj-Triumph Might Arrive In 2023
As part of the official announcements, there’s yet another official report. It is now confirmed that the first new product as a result of this partnership will arrive in 2023. Furthermore, the company clarified that they expect it to arrive in the next few months. Bajaj and Triumph had earlier mentioned that they would offer multiple different displacements. This spans between 200 and 700cc.
Triumph Dealer Network to Reach To 120 Cities In India
In an attempt to cater to these new, more affordable Triumph models, the company also has plans to widen the dealer network. Thus it has massive plans over the next 2 years to improve its current reach of 15 cities to get to 120 cities. These showrooms will find their places in tier two and three cities to reach a wider section of the audience. Furthermore, Triumph is likely to offer a mix of the big motorcycle as well as smaller made-in-India models. But how that mix will spread out across the country remains to be seen.
But, what has been made pretty clear is that we will not have Bajaj and Triumph-branded motorcycles housed under the same roof. Thus, the Triumph operation will have no connection with both Bajaj and KTM. And thus Triumph showrooms will remain exclusive to the brand. The press release also stresses the fact that these new showrooms will have the same standards as Triumph global.
