Chetak, an electric scooter offering from Bajaj, receives a price hike of INR 5,000 and INR 15,000 for two of its trim, though there are no changes or updates to the product. Chetak is available with two variants namely, Premium and Urbane.
Technical Specification Of Bajaj Chetak
Powering this electric scooter is a 3.8 kW electric motor coupled to a 3kWh Li-ion battery. The max power output of the scooter is 5.5 PS and under a single charge, the scooter can travel a total distance of 95 km in Eco mode and 85 km in the Sport mode. The charging time using a 5 Ampere power outlet is around 5 hours. To ensure a hassle-free ownership experience, Bajaj is offering a warranty of 3 years or 50,000 km on battery. The current iteration of the model comes with 12-inch alloys wheels wrapped with 90/90 tyres at the front and 90/100 tyres at the rear which are both tubeless. The suspension setup consists of a lead-link-type at the front and a monoshock at the rear.
Features and Price.
In terms of features, the Bajaj Chetak gets regenerative braking, along with all-LED lights which include headlamp, DRLs, turn indicators and taillights, a front disc brake, a digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth and more. One of the USP features of the Chetak is the inclusion of a rear gear which makes parking the scooter a very easy task. After the price hike, the base trim Urbane, has a sticker price of INR 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom) after a price hike of INR 15,000 meanwhile, the top-spec Premium trim now costs INR 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom) exclusive of the price hike of INR 5,000. Currently, in the electric scooter segment, the alternate products include the likes of TVS iQube which costs INR 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom) and Ather 450X whose price starts at INR 1.27 lakh (ex-showroom). As of now, Chetak is only available in two cities, Bengaluru and Pune though there are plans to expand the electric scooter’s sales and service to more markets in India.
