Audi rolled out its eight millionth car from its Belgian factory that was first set up in the year 1949. The car in the limelight of the occasion is a metallic Glacier White Audi e-tron. And this specific car will become a part of the extensive historical car collection in the Audi tradition. As per initial plans, this eight millionth Audi in form of the e-tron will find its place at the production site in Brussels. So that the visitors can get a glimpse of the same.

Importance Of Audi Brussels Factory

Audi had designated the site as the ‘Factory of the Future’ last year. And 2018 was the first year when the factory produced its first fully electric SUV, the Audi e-tron. Fast forward to 2020, and the factory currently is producing the e-tron on a mass production basis. Audi has tagged this site as the ‘key factory for electromobility in the Audi Group’. Along with producing the e-tron, the site will also take up the responsibility to build the battery assembly as well.

In the current trend of shifting to e-mobility, this factory in Brussels will play an essential role for the Volkswagen Group. Audi Brussels also emphasized the fact that the working personnel are also getting adequate training to make this shift to electric mobility. As of today, more than 3,000 working personnel are involved in the production of the Audi e-tron, e-tron Sportback, e-tron S, and e-tron S Sportback models.

Sustainability Plays A Key Part In This Factory

With the growing sentiments to minimize the carbon footprint, Audi has taken some important steps for this factory. For example, the factory makes use of electricity supplied by a large photovoltaic system. In fact, the heat required for production also comes from renewable energy via coverage through biogas certificates. As part of Audi’s Mission: Zero, this site was the first Audi factory worldwide to manufacture cars with net carbon-neutral conditions.
