Mid-size SUVs are popular worldwide, and Audi has just introduced a new model in the form of Q3 Sportback. To debut later this year or early 2020, the Audi Q3 Sportback looks stunning and dramatically different in comparison to the standard Q3. And we mean that in a good way. Although the mechanicals and interior elements will be shared by the Q3 siblings, the SUV-Coupe styling on the Q3 Sportback is surely going to appeal to a new audience.
The Audi Q3 Sportback has a 29mm drop in the roof height for a low slung stance. It also has the overall length increased by 16mm thanks to the styling towards the tail end. However, the Q3 Sportback is marginally smaller in the width compared to the not-so-great-looking Q3. Overall, exterior features include a bold front grille with massive air dam, multi-spoke alloy wheels, curvy creaselines on the body, new headlamp with LED DRLs, LED tail lamp, sporty bumpers with body cladding, body cladding on the side, blacked out B-pillar, sharkfin antenna, roof mounted spoiler and the likes…
Inside, the headroom for the rear occupants has reduced thanks to the sloping roofline. Other than that, the Q3 Sportback almost shares similar styling and feature compared to the standard Q3. The car has 530L of boot space and the rear backrest is adjustable and slides as well for better comfort.
On the mechanical front, the Q3 Sportback has a new steering system with variable ratio to make it easy while changing direction with better feel and feedback at all times. One can also opt for a sport suspension system for free, and an optional extra for the adaptive dampers. Petrol engine option will be a 2.0L motor with 230 HP of power and the 2.0L diesel will be sold in 150 HP and 190 HP state of tune. Of course, Audi’s Quattro AWD system will be on offer.
In India, we still don’t have the 2nd generation Q3 yet. So we have to wait if at all Audi will launch the new Q3 along with this Q3 Sportback at the same time here in our market.
