Audi reveals new A5, will replace the A4 globally

Written by News Team

Audi is undergoing a significant transformation. Not only does the redesigned 2025 Audi A5 replace the Audi A4 sedan, which will be discontinued after 2025, but it also heralds the brand’s new gas platform. This platform will underpin approximately 10 new models in the next few years, as part of an unparalleled product offensive that includes more than 20 new global models within the next two years.

The New A5

The 2025 Audi A5, expected to arrive next spring or early summer (possibly as 2026 models in the U.S.), aims to rekindle interest in sedans. However, its flexible platform, known as Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), has broader applications. This platform will also be used in the redesigned 2025 Q5 compact crossover, slated for an early summer 2025 release. The A5 combines Sportback hatchback style with roomier sedan proportions, offering a more sophisticated and luxurious alternative to both the A4 and the previous A5 coupe.

Design Highlights

  • Front Fascia: The A5 features a new front fascia with a large plastic honeycomb grille, flanked by LED running lights that can be customized into eight different patterns.
  • Rear Design: Wraparound LED taillights made of 60 different bulbs underscore the integrated rear spoiler. The S5 models sport quad tailpipes, all functional and part of the design.
  • S-Line Badges: Both the S5 and S-Line badges now feature the red rhombus logo.
  • Interior Features: The interior sports premium upholstery, an 11.9-inch driver’s display, a 14.5-inch infotainment display, a 10-inch front passenger display, massage and ventilated seats, and many more features

Powertrain

The Audi A5 will be offered with Pure-ICE as well as a mild-hybrid powertrain. The former is a 2.0 L turbo-petrol mill with two states of tune – one producing 150 bhp and the other 204 bhp. The 204 bhp variant gets the Quattro AWD option as well. There is also a new MHEV Plus 2.0 L diesel engine that produces 204 bhp. The S5 model gets the most powerful 3.0 L V6 that produces a whopping 367 bhp.
