Written by Parichay Malvankar

German luxury car manufacturer Audi has revealed the new top-spec SUV in the Q7 line-up. The SQ7 facelift has been revealed and this luxury SUV will come with a V8 turbo-diesel engine under the hood. The Audi Q7 is a full-size 7-seater SUV which rivals the likes of Range Rover Sport. In due course of time, this variant will also be launched in the Indian market.

The facelift is in sync with the standard Q7, along with performance specific parts and cosmetic updates to suit the ‘S’ badge in the SQ7. The car now gets a new grille, aluminium inserts on the mirrors, chrome quad exhaust finishers, 21″ alloy wheels in cast aluminium, new badging, new interior trim with SQ7 badging, sport seats, integrated headrests and new paint options.

Powering the Audi SQ7 is a 4.0L, TwinTurbo, V8 diesel engine which produces a whopping 900 Nm of torque. The brand claims that the SQ7 can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 4.8 seconds which is impressive for a 7-seater SUV. The top speed has been limited to 250 kmph as usual and the engine comes matched to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with tiptronic and paddle shift functions. Audi also offers the Quattro AWD system on the SQ7 and for additional comfort, it also gets adaptive sport suspension with progressive steering. The SQ7 gets all-wheel steering which makes it agile and fun to drive, even with all the bulk.

With such monstrous torque to be handled, the brake system has been beefed up with 400mm discs at the front and 370mm discs at the rear and the brake calipers have been painted in black for a sporty touch, along with an option to have them in red to be seen better.

As of now, Audi has made no official announcement on the introduction of the SQ7 here for our market, but given the market trends, we can expect it in the first half of 2020, or late 2019.
