Audi e-Tron gets 5-stars safety rating at Euro NCAP

The Audi e-Tron electric SUV has received a 5-star safety rating from the Euro NCAP (European New Car Assesment Program). The tested model was a 55 Quatro in the left-hand drive variant and the SUV had 5-doors and weighed in at 2565 kg. According to the Euro NCAP safety report, the crash tested SUV had safety features like frontal airbags for driver and passenger, seat belt pretensioner, seat belt load limiters, side head airbag, side chest airbag, side pelvis airbag, seat belt Reminder, automatic emergency braking system for pedestrians and cyclist, speed assistance system, lane assist system, and City and Inter-urban AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking).

The safety rating awarded for the Audi e-Tron is as follows:-

  • 91% for adult occupant protection (Total 34.9/38 Points)
  • 85% for child occupants protection (Total 41.7/49 Points)
  • 71% for pedestrian safety (Total 34.4/48 Points)
  • 76% for the safety assist systems (Total 10/13 Points)

The Audi e-Tron has been recently previewed in India and the car is likely to be in the INR 1 crore range but Audi is positive about the car sales and is expecting to sell more than 200 units in a year. The powertrain on the e-Tron is expected to be a 125 kW motor powering the front and a 140 kW powering the rear wheels connected to a 95 kWh battery pack, connected to two electric motors which can produce a total output of 360 HP of power and 561 Nm of torque as standard, in Boost mode the power can be increased to 408 HP and 661 Nm of torque. The brand claims that the Audi e-Tron can be driven for 400 km on a single charge and with a DC fast charger the battery can be recharged to up to 80% in just 30 minutes and with a 400V three-phase outlet at home will take 8.5 hours for the same.

The model is expected to be fully imported with a right-hand drive set up which is also valid for 5-stars in the Euro NCAP safety tests.
