Ather scooters were ridden over 389 million kms in 2022

Ather Energy has published the second edition of its yearly ‘Ather in 2022’ report. This report is a year-end recap capturing trends around EV 2-wheeler adoption across the country. 2022 was a great year for electric mobility, as the sales touched new heights. The ‘Ather in 2022’ report reflects upon how Ather electric scooters are becoming mainstream in the EV space,  especially in smaller cities and towns.

Ather Energy Sales Growing Thick And Fast

In 2022, Ather scooters travelled more than 389 million km. This is a good 458 per cent increase over 2021. Bengaluru and Chennai continue to lead the total distance list. These cities covered over 82 million and 33 million km, respectively. With Maharashtra pushing more for EV adoption, Pune has now jumped up to the top three cities. Ather scooter clocked over 25 million km in 2022.

Markets such as New Delhi and Hyderabad are also growing at a good pace. Meanwhile, the key growth is for the Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. As they continue to show strong EV adoption rates and are riding longer distances. On average, smaller cities put up higher daily distances per scooter. Secunderabad registered an average of 41 km per day, followed by Thanjavur, Tiruppur, Pathanamthitta, and Attapur.

Ather Energy sold a total of 59,413 units from Jan to Dec 2022. This translates to a y-o-y growth of 224 per cent. To meet this rising demand in the country, Ather recently set up its second manufacturing facility in Hosur. The facility, spread across 300,000 sq. ft. will aid the brand in expanding its production capacity to 4,20,000 units per year in FY 2024 (April 2023 – March 2024). All in all, this facility will further enable the company to fulfil the increasing demand for its flagship scooters.

More Updates And Colours For Ather

The company also recently rolled out the Atherstack 5.0 software update for its scooters.  With this, the scooter now gets new features taking the riding experience to a new level. Ather has also introduced six new colour shades for its scooter. This includes, – Space Grey, Still White, Salt Green, True Red, Cosmic Black, and Lunar Grey for the 450X and 450 Plus.
