Aston Martin reveals DBS Superleggera Volante

British supercar brand Aston Martin has unveiled its convertible variant based on the DBS Superleggera, the DBS Superleggera Volante.

The exterior of the convertible supercar gets a large signature Aston Martin grille with low mounted large outer air ducts on the front apron and all LED headlights with V-shaped LED daytime running lights. The bonnet is made of lightweight carbon fibre with a muscular V-shaped bonnet line and two air vents. It receives flush mounted door handles, low crease lines on the door and a distinguished shoulder line over the rear wheels. The rear of the car gets sleek LED tail lights a slim spoiler and a large black diffuser with quad-pipe exhausts.

The interior of the DBS Superleggera Volante features a rich and luxurious leather interior which can be customised according to taste. The roof can be opened and closed via the key fob within a 2-meter radius of the car. Aston Martin claims that it can be opened in 14 seconds and can be closed in 16 seconds.

The power plant on the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante is a 5.2-litre, twin-turbo, V-layout, 12-cylinder motor with 48-valve, quad overhead cam and a stop/start cylinder deactivation system. The engine is a front mid-mounted with rear-wheel drive and fully catalysed cross piped stainless steel exhaust system. The engine produces a maximum power output of 725 PS @ 6500 RPM and peak torque output of 900 Nm @ 1800-5000 RPM connected to a rear mid-mounted ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox linked to an alloy torque tube with carbon fibre propeller shaft.

The stopping power comes from a 410mm diameter ventilated carbon ceramic disc brakes on the front with a 21-inch ten twin spoke light alloy wheels with 265/35 section Pirelli P Zero tyres and a 360mm diameter ventilated carbon ceramic disc brakes on the rear with a 21-inch light alloy wheels with 305/30 section Pirelli P Zero tyres. The DBS Superleggera Volante features:-

The chassis is an extruded bonded aluminium body with composite panels and a carbon fibre clamshell bonnet. The suspension in front is independent double wishbone design coil springs with adaptive damping and an anti-roll bar and a multi-link type coil springs with anti-roll bar and adaptive damping on the rear.

The performance figures are as follows:-

  • 0 to 100 kmph in 3.6 seconds
  • Top speed of339.57 kmph

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante prices start from GBP 247,500 (INR 2,23,60,848) in the UK with deliveries starting later in 2019.
