Chennai-headquartered second-largest commercial vehicles manufacturer in India, Ashok Leyland has launched its ‘AVTR’ (Pronounced = Avatar) range of modular trucks in India. The modular platform is first of its kind in the country which allows multiple options of axle configurations, loading spans, cabins, suspensions, and drivetrains on a single platform.
The modular platform is employed on the brand’s entire range of Rigid Trucks, Tippers and Tractors in the 18.5T to 55T category. The new AVTR platform truck allows customisation and they can be configured according to needs and applications. The specific configuration allows better operational economics and customer gratification.
The Modular platform also claims to provide improved safety, higher reliability, durability, better comfort for drivers, powered by ‘i-Gen6’ BS6 technology powertrain and supported by the next Generation i-alert fleet management system with remote diagnostics.
The Ashok Leyland AVTR tipper trucks feature i-Gen6 H series and i-Gen6 A series BS6 compliant engines. The H series engines produce 200 Hp of power and 700 Nm of torque matched to an ALGB-940 6-speed gearbox with the option of a ZF 9-speed gearbox. Another A series engine that generates 250 Hp of power and 900 Nm of torque is also on offer. The gearboxes are paired with 380mm single dry plate ceramic clutch with an air-assisted hydraulic booster.
Ashok Leyland AVTR series trucks also benefit from the brand’s ‘iAlert’ technology which provides near-realtime monitoring of the vehicle. The iAlert system provides deep insights into the vehicle also integrating complex BS6 technologies. It enables prophesying models to predict failures and ensures vehicle up-time in addition to providing proactive service support. The iAlert system also features VHMD, Track and Trace, Geo-fencing, Trip Management, Route Deviation Tracking, Fuel-Level Management, Alerts & Reports, service reminder, driver monitoring, fleet management and dealer locator.
