Spy images of a new bike have surfaced online. This sports bike was spotted on the outskirts of Baramati, Maharashtra. This means that this could be Aprilia’s 300 cc sports bike.
Aprilia’s 300cc sports bike : More Details
Currently, the 300cc segment consists of the KTM RC 390, TVS Apache RR 310, BMW G 310 RR and Honda CBR300R. Aprilia is looking to enter into this segment with its 300cc motorcycle as well.
The bike is fully camouflaged, and also has what appears to be some testing equipment mounted on the back as well. In terms of silhouette of the bike, it bears resemblance to the Aprilia’s RS line-up. Visually, we can say that this bike is the smaller sibling of the RS 660.
Despite the camouflage, we can, however, observe few details. The front end of the bikes resembles the RS 660. We can see a twin headlight arrangement while the park lamp is housed in the middle. We can expect this lights to be LED type. Similarly, the tail lights and blinkers will be LED as well.
Coming to the seating, it is an aggressive position with quite a bit of lean to reach the handlebars. Further, the foot pegs are rear-set. This will make cornering easy, especially when leaning steeply. The fuel tank doubles up duty to hold the rider in position. The rider can grip the tank with their legs.
We can also spot up-side down front forks along with a rear mono shock. The rear swing arm looks to be made from aluminium. The front wheel gets small discs.
Powertrain details of the new 300cc Aprilia Sports bike
While we do not know the exact details about the engine, we can assume the engine capacity to remain between 300 and 400 cc. It will be a single cylinder motor with a power rating of 25-40 BHP and could offer a peak torque of 35 Nm.
In terms of driver aids, expect ride by wire, liquid cooling as well as a slip and assist clutch as standard. Aprilia could also offer a quick shifter, if not in both directions, then at least for the upshifts. The bike could also get multiple riding modes, dual channel ABS and a TFT display for the rider.
Pricing of the Aprilia 300cc Sports bike
While Aprilia is not a common brand in the Indian market, the bikes are quite known internationally. Coming to pricing, the Aprilia could look expensive, but this is when compared with Japanese rivals. However, pricing for this bike could start around the INR 3.5 lakh range.
