Aprilia Tuono 125 launch soon, listed on Indian website

Written by Nizam Shaikh

It has been brought to notice that, Italian brand Aprilia a subsidiary of the Piaggio Group has updated their website which now lists the Aprilia Tuono 125 motorcycle. The 150cc iteration of the Tuono was showcased at the 14th edition of the Auto Expo in 2018 and was rumoured to be introduced shortly into our market. And now according to new speculations, the brand is likely to get the 125cc version as they have it listed on the official website.

The Aprilia Tuono 125 gets its design inspiration and styling from the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 and features a bikini fairing, angular fuel tank, contoured semi step-up single-piece seat, signature Aprilia triple beam headlight unit, a mini flyscreen, straight single-piece handlebar finished in black, handlebar-mounted mirrors, an under belly exhaust system and dual-tone colour theme with body graphics.

The Tuono is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve DOHC with electronic fuel injection that produces 15 ps of power and 11 Nm of torque. To put things into perspective if the Aprilia plans to launch the motorcycle in the Indian market it will compete against the KTM 125 Duke and the KTM RC 125 both powered by a 125cc single-cylinder 4-stroke 4-valve DOHC engine that makes 15 hp of power and 12 Nm of torque matched to a close-ratio 6-speed gearbox.

In mechanical terms, the Tuono 125 features 40mm upside-down front forks, a monoshock absorber attached to an asymmetrical swingarm, 300mm single disc on the front, 218mm disc on the rear both equipped with the hydraulically operated disc brake calliper.

It is important to note that the engine on the Tuono 125 is a Euro4 emission compliant motor which will have to be upgraded to meet BS6 conformity. The brand has not yet confirmed if it will be launching the product in the Indian market anytime soon, but rising demands in the 125cc segment could lead the company to introduce the Tuono 125 soon.
