Piaggio unveiled the Aprilia SXR 160 Maxiscooter in the Indian market at the 15th edition of the Auto Expo 2020. The brand has now announced that the most-anticipated scooter has been launched at INR 1,25,997 ex-showroom, Pune. The Aprilia SXR 160 can be booked from Aprilia dealerships as well as through the brand’s online sales channel by putting down an amount of INR 5,000.
The Aprilia SXR 160 Crossmax is powered by a BS6 emission-compliant 160.03cc air-fan-cooled single-cylinder 3-valve SOHC motor with fuel injection and Aprilia clean emission technology, that helps produce 11 PS of power and 11.6 Nm of torque paired to an automatic CVT transmission. The powertrain is housed in a thick construction chassis using a Link-Spring mechanism and rides on 30mm telescopic front fork suspension and a preload-adjustable monoshock suspension on the rear.
When it comes to dimensions, the Aprilia SXR 160 maxi-scooter measures 1,960mm in length, 803mm in width and 1,353mm in height and features 12-inch 5-spoke dual-geometry alloy wheels shod in 120/70 tubeless tyres. The maxiscooter features a 220mm diameter front disc brake with ABS and a 140mm mechanically operated internally expanding drum brake on the rear, for stopping power. The Aprilia SXR 160 also comes with a 7-litre capacity fuel tank with under the seat fuel filler cap for added safety. To put things into perspective the Suzuki Burgman, the only contestant in the maxi-scooter segment in the Indian market measures 1,880 mm in length, 715mm in width, 1,140mm in height, comes with 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels.
The Aprilia SXR 160 comes loaded with features such as Aprilia triple LED headlamp unit with twin-split main beams and a central high-beam, LED DRLs, headlight cluster incorporated LED turn indicators, a wraparound LED combination tail lamp, fully digital 210-cm sq. instruments cluster with mobile phone connectivity option, front split glove box with USB charging option, large under-seat storage, generous and ergonomic seats, etc.
The Aprilia SXR 160 features Piaggio’s 3 coat HD paint finish featuring Aprilia signature graphics, dark chrome elements, matte black trims and the Crossmax design scooter is offered in four colourways – Matte Black, Glossy White, Matte Blue and Glossy Red.
