Written by Nizam Shaikh

Italian premium two-wheeler manufacturer has announced that the brand has commenced accepting pre-launch bookings for their upcoming product the Aprilia SXR125 in India. Customers can now reserve the Aprilia SXR125 by putting down an amount of INR 5,000 at their nearest Aprilia dealership or through the brand’s e-commerce website. Piaggio also announces that it has commenced the production of the Aprilia SXR125 at the company’s state-of-the-art production plant in Baramati. The Aprilia SXR125 will be available in four colour options – Matt Black, Glossy White, Matt Blue and Glossy Red.

Design & Styling

The Aprilia SXR125 features the same Crossmax styling from the elder sibling the Aprilia SXR160 which was launched close to the end of 2020. The SXR125 features Aprilia’s latest global design language and comes with features such as the hallmark three-part LED headlights, LED DRLs, wraparound LED taillights, signature Aprilia graphics, an imposing front apron with a tall smoked windscreen, large seats for comfort, a generous footboard, a fully digital instruments cluster with Bluetooth mobile connectivity option.

Powertrain

Powering the Aprilia SXR125 is a BS6 compliant 125cc air-cooled four-stroke three-valve engine with electronic fuel injection technology that claims to produce high power and torque. The brand could borrow the powertrain from the Aprilia SR 125 or Storm 125 which develop close to 10 PS of power and 9.7 Nm of torque. The scooter will come with a CVT automatic gearbox.

Mechanical Parts

The Aprilia SXR125 is also likely to borrow its underpinnings from the SXR160 which comes with a thick construction chassis with a Link-Spring mechanism and rides on 30mm diameter telescopic front fork suspension and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. The Aprilia SXR160 comes with a 220mm diameter front disc brake with CBS and a 140mm mechanically operated internally expanding drum brake on the rear and 12-inch 5-spoke dual-geometry alloy wheels shod in 120/70 tubeless tyres. The maxi-scooter measures 1,960mm in length, 803mm in width, 1,353mm in height and features a 7-litre fuel tank.
