Aprilia RS660 details revealed, 100 HP power with just 169 kg weight

Aprilia has revealed full details on the upcoming Aprilia RS 660 supersport motorcycle. The brand has also announced that the pre-launch bookings on the Aprilia RS 660 will begin from 12th October 2020 in the international market. The Italian marque has also unveiled the RS660 with a brand-new Acid Gold paint theme alongside the Apex Black and Lava Red paint options. In the European market, the Aprilia RS 660 will be priced starting GBP 10,149 and will be available at dealerships from November 2020 onwards. 

The Aprilia RS660 is powered by a Euro5 compliant 659cc forward-facing four-stroke parallel twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with water-oil radiator and heat exchanger that churns out 100 Hp of power and 67 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox with Bi-Directional Aprilia Quick Shift (AQS) and a mechanical slipper clutch. The Aprilia RS 660 also features Ride-by-Wire engine management system along with 5 Riding modes (Road and Track, 3 fixed and 2 customisable), a six-axis inertial platform, APRC package containing ATC (traction control), AWC (wheelie control), AEB (engine braking), AEM (engine maps) and ACC (cruise control).

In terms of the mechanical parts, the RS 660 features an aluminium dual beam chassis with removable seat support subframe that rides on 41mm Kayaba upside-down front fork suspension with adjustable spring preload and rebound damping and 120mm of wheel travel. The rear end comes with an adjustable monoshock with spring reload and rebound braking mounted on an aluminium asymmetric swingarm that allows 130mm of wheel travel. The braking duties are performed by 320mm twin discs with Brembo radial callipers and radial-pump with a metal braided brake hose on the front, 220mm rear brake with metal braided hose and Multimap Cornering ABS. The Aprilia RS 660 tips the scales at 169 kgs. 

In terms of its design and styling, the Aprilia RS 660 draws its inspiration from the RSV4 and the RS 660 features a fully-faired aerodynamic bodywork with aero winglets on the side, triple LED headlamps with LED daytime running lamps and turn indicators and automatic headlamp activation with ambient light sensor, a bubble windscreen, step-up seats with a high-mounted tail section, LED tail lamps, muscular fuel tank, clip-on handlebars, a 5-inch colour TFT instruments screen with smartphone connectivity and self-cancelling turn signal indicators as well as cornering lamp function.
