Aprilia RS 457 sports bike production begins in India

The Aprilia RS 457 was launched last month for a price of ₹4.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycle is now under production at Aprilia’s Baramati plant in Maharashtra. Aprilia plans to begin deliveries of the sports bike starting Mar 1, 2024.

The Aprilia RS 457 is a fully-faired sports motorcycle. It is powered by a 457 cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that produces 47.6 hp at 9400 rpm and a peak torque of 43.5 Nm at 6400 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission. It gets  41mm USD forks which are adjustable for preload and have a 120 mm travel. The rear mono-shock too is adjustable for preload and has travel of 130mm. At the front, the motorcycle gets 320 mm floating discs, and 220 mm discs at the rear. Both made by Bybre. The seat height is 800 mm and should be comfortable for most Indian riders. The bike has a fuel capacity of 13 liters and the wet weight is 175 kg.

Aprilia will also be introducing some exclusive accessories and riding gear which can be purchased separately. These include riding jackets, pants, gloves, helmets, etc.

Competition

The Aprilia RS 457 goes head to head-with the KTM RC 390 if you look at the spec sheet. It also falls in the same segment as the Kawasaki Ninja 400 and the Yamaha R3. On paper, the Aprila RS 457 is a promising motorcycle and seems to have a lot of potential. It has been priced well compared to the Yamahas and the Kawasakis. What remains to be seen is how the motorcycle performs on the road and on the track. We will be riding the RS 457 soon, stay tuned to this space for more.
