Aprilia reveals SR 125 Storm & new colours for SR 150 Race

Written by Parichay Malvankar

We weren’t expecting much from Aprilia at the Indian Auto Expo 2018, but the Piaggio group had quite a few tricks up their sleeve. Aprilia apart from the standard SR 125, also showcased the SR 125 Storm scooter and parked next to them were new colours for the Aprilia SR 150 Race. These scooters are soon expected in the showrooms.

Aprilia claims that the SR 125 Storm is designed for the youth, and comes with bold highlights over the standard version. In the video below, you can notice new pop colours, new body decals, a front windscreen, no pillion grab rail and black alloy wheels.

Powering the Aprilia SR 125 is a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled petrol motor producing 9.5 HP of power @ 7250 RPM and 9.9 Nm of torque @ 6250 RPM matched to the standard automatic gearbox.

Also on display was the updated SR 150 scooter. For 2018, the elder sibling comes with a analogue + digital speedo console, and new livery for the SR 150 Race version. The Aprilia SR 150 comes powered by a 154.4cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder block producing 11.4 BHP of power and 11.5 Nm of torque.

Piaggio is expecting these updates & a small engine to help them gain more traction in the scooter market. The Aprilia SR 150 is already a very loved motorcycle by those who want something sporty to commute. The 125cc version with a lower price tag will most likely attract buyers who were considering say a Suzuki Access or Honda Activa.
