Aprilia reveals RS660 Extrema limited edition motorcycle

Written by Kanad Kalasur

Aprilia has unveiled a new version of its RS660 sports bike. It has a low kerb weight of just 166 kg. The bike was unveiled at the 2022 EICMA Show in Milan.

The RS660 Extrema is the lone bike that Aprilia bought at the EICMA. However, it is the best-selling model in the company’s line-up. The pricing is not yet announced but rest assured that it will be sold out due to its features and limited numbers on offer. It is not yet known if the bike will hit the Indian shores.

What’s new on the RS660 Extrema

The bike gets new carbon bits and a lighter street-legal exhaust by Italian experts SC Project. It gets a carbon silencer on the right side compared to the underbody exhaust of the RS. The silencer is held up using a black anodized bracket. This means that the passenger footpegs can be removed for that additional weight saving.

The front mudguard is also carbon fibre, along with a new design belly pan that allows further weight loss. The bike is finished in a red and white livery.

The Extrema comes with a single-seat tail fairing. To seat a pillion, one will need to replace it with a passenger seat that is supplied separately.

New Software on the RS660 Extrema

The bike gets new software that allows the gearbox to be configured in the race shift mode without replacing any components on the bike. Other rider aids offered include the usual array of adjustable lean-sensitive gadgets, such as traction control, cornering ABS, engine braking, engine maps and wheelie control.

Powertrain of the RS660 Extrema

The parallel-twin 660cc motor has been carried over from the RS. It develops 100 HP and 67 Nm of torque. This gives the bike an impressive power-to-weight ratio due to the additional weight saving.
