Aprilia reveals 50cc SXR maxi scooter

Piaggio has launched the Aprilia SXR 50 in the international market. The motorcycle features a small engine concept with a maxi-scooter comfort and functionality. The brand has been offering the small engine scooter since the 90’s when it offered the Aprilia SR 50 scooter. Now the brand plans to bring the trend back by introducing the SXR 50.

The new Aprilia SXR 50 will target the younger audience especially one with the Learner Licence in Europe. The maxiscooter will also appeal to a wider audience who wish to own a large and practical scooter without the high costs of a higher displacement engine. The Aprilia SXR 50 also gives users everyday mobility needs in the urban environment.

Aprilia SXR 50 Engine Specifications

Powering the Aprilia SXR 50 is a 50cc four-stroke Euro5 emission compliant engine. The air-cooled single-cylinder motor claims to be extremely economical, nimble in power and silent. This enables the rider a quiet and comfortable ride within the city and everyday usability especially in the ‘Stop & Go’ traffic. The three-valve engine with an eight-hole fuel injector system produces 3.2 Bhp of power and 3.3 Nm of torque. The scooter comes with an automatic gearbox for ease of use. The brand claims that the scooter returns a fuel efficiency of 40 kmpl of mileage in the WMTC.

Mechanical Parts

The Aprilia SXR 50 comes with a tubular steel single-cradle chassis with strengthening steel structures moulded into the metal. The scooter rides on a telescopic suspension on the front, a 5-step adjustable single shock absorber on the rear. The SXR 50 also features 12-inch alloy wheels shod in 120/70 wide rubber on both ends offering stability and smoothness. The maxi-scooter also comes with a 220mm disc on the front and a 140mm mechanically operated drum brake on the rear.

The Aprilia SXR 50 features the same design language as the Aprilia SXR 160 and comes with LED lighting, a tall windscreen, large seats, generous under-seat storage, combination LED tail lamps etc. The scooter also comes with accessories such as a larger more protective windscreen, a 32-litre top box, non-slip rubber mat, side stand, a waterproof seat cover, an anti-theft system with steel cable, a backrest and a lot more.
