According to a media report, Aprilia has started accepting orders from dealerships for the new Aprilia RS 660 and Tuono 660 in the Indian market. Both the motorcycles will come to India via the Completely Built-Up (CBU) route and currently, the brand is only evaluating the interest for the product in the Indian market and if the motorcycle will be feasible as the report suggest that both the motorcycles will be more expensive than normal. Piaggio is likely to import motorcycles from Europe in the second quarter of 2021.
The Aprilia RS 660 and the Tuono 660 come with a price tag starting at GBP 10,149 in the United Kingdom which roughly converts to INR 10 lakh in the Indian market plus taxes. Powering the Aprilia RS 660 and the Tuono 660 is a Euro5-compliant 659cc forward-facing in-line twin-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection and 270-degree firing order. The motor comes with liquid-cooling as well as a water-oil radiator and heat exchanger for better thermodynamics. The powertrain on the Aprilia RS 660 belts out 100 Hp of power and 67 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox with a Bi-Directional Aprilia Quick Shift (AQS) and a mechanical slipper clutch. The Tuono 660 pumps out 95 Hp of power.
The Aprilia RS 660 and the Tuono 660 also feature a dual-beam chassis made with lightweight aluminium, adjustable 41mm Kayaba upside-down front fork suspension, adjustable monoshock suspension on the rear, high specification Brembo braking components with Multimap Cornering ABS. The electronics package also includes a 5-inch colour TFT instruments screen with smartphone connectivity, all-LED lighting with cornering lamp function, a six-axis inertia measuring unit, Ride-by-Wire throttle, 5 Riding modes (Road and Track, 3 fixed and 2 customisable), AEM (engine maps), ACC (cruise control), ATC (traction control), AWC (wheelie control) and AEB (engine braking). The Indian market is expected to get the European-spec motorcycle which means it will come with all the bells and whistles without any compromise.
