BMW has announced that the next new product slated for a launch in India is the X6, codenamed as F16.

X6 SUV, or SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) as they call it in India by mid-2015. This is the second generation X6 and will be capable of carrying 5 passengers this time round.

BMW India could offer two variants of the new X6 in India – the diesel xDrive40d and the X6 M. The xDrive40d is a re-tuned version of the M 50d and the X6 M will be powered by a 4.4L, V8 engine being used in the M5 currently. The X6 M will achieve a 0-100 kmph stint in under 5 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.

The new X6 also weighs 40 kg less than the outgoing model and the weight distribution on the new model is 50:50.

Both these variants will come to India via the CBU route and pricing is expected to be in the range of Rs. 90 lakh – Rs. 1.5 crore.

With over 2.5 lakh units sold globally since its launch in 2008, the X6 has been a fairly successful BMW product.
