All-new 2020 Hyundai i20 looks sportier than ever, coming to India soon

While the interiors are yet to be revealed, we finally know what the new-generation Hyundai i20 will look like. This is the all-new Hyundai i20 model to be sold globally to rival the likes of Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta. The new Hyundai i20 with a BS6 petrol and diesel engine option will come to India in a few months from now, and it looks more stunning than it ever has. By far, this is the sharpest and most edgy design for the Hyundai i20 in its 3rd generation for the Indian market. Hyundai will officially debut the all-new i20 completely at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Sensuous and Sporty is the new design theme for the brand, and we think that the new i20 is bang on in that department.

Up front, you now get a full mesh in XL size as a grille in the cascading design. This we think is the sportiest of setup, but there could be a more subtle grille on offer in markets like India. One can also notice the bold crease lines on the hood, LED DRLs, new full LED headlamps, projector fog lamps, air curtains on the bumpers for better aero performance, front splitter design and a tapering front end design overall.  The side profile of the new i20 reveals chrome accents around the DLO area, dual tone paint scheme, snazzy multi-spoke 16″ / 17″ alloy wheels, conventional placement for the door handles, contrast painted rear view mirror and a stylish kink on the C pillar mingling well with the applique around the rear windscreen. At the back, you get a radical design treatment with connected tail lamp appearance, LED illumination, diffuser effect on the bumper, rear fog lamps, roof mounted spoiler, dual tone tail gate and a shark fin antenna. Among the new Hyundai designs in the recent past, we are really liking the 2020 Hyundai i20 and hope that it also comes with a turbo-petrol motor.

Engine options expected include 1.2L petrol, 1.2L diesel and a 1.0L turbo-petrol motor; all of which will be BS6 compliant. For the 2020 Hyundai i20, rumours have suggested that there would be a superior automatic gearbox and not the cost cutting AMT on offer as we see on the Grand i10 Nios. Abroad, Hyundai could also offer a N performance variant which could sport a 200 HP motor. WOW.

We have seen spyshots before and already know that Hyundai will introduce features such as full digital speedo console, wireless charging, automatic climate control, Arkamys sound system, connected technology, rear AC vents, touchscreen infotainment, etc.

Expect the 2020 Hyundai i20 in this new-generation and with a BS6 compliant engine line-up to cost slightly more than it does at the moment. And well, why not…
