Vinfast EVs coming soon in India – what to expect?
As per an online report, Vinfast will bring affordable cars to India soon. The Vietnamese EV maker is going to follow the top-down strategy of car launches in India. This will begin soon as the brand’s upcoming production plant in Tamil Nadu is being constructed right per its schedule.
The EV brand recently showcased its upcoming mid-size and premium models at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. To everyone’s surprise, the VF moniker pulled a lot of potential customers. In fact, the brand received numerous queries regarding its upcoming models.
Speaking of the product portfolio, the VF7 mid-size crossover will be the first car to launch. It will debut before the festive season 2025; later followed by the smaller VF6. The VF7 is a popular EV in the South Asian car market. It comes with a 75.3 kWh battery pack, with options of an FWD and an AWD drivetrain, offering a range of 450 km.
While the initial target of the brand is middle-class premium EV buyers, the farsighted target is to launch more affordable cars. The company will follow a top-to-down strategy, where it will launch premium to affordable models strategically.
One such affordable car is the VF3 which was also showcased at the Auto Expo. Its city-friendly design and spacious cabin attracted a widespread audience. These affordable EVs like the VF3 will be launched in 2026 in India.
Currently, the brand is working on CKD production which has an initial target of 50,000 units. Later, this target will rise to 150,000 units, depending on the domestic and global market needs.

Vinfast EVs are likely going to become a game-changer in India. Globally, these cars are known for their sturdy built quality and performance. The main competitors of the VF7, the first Vinfast model to be launched, will be the Hyundai Creta Electric, BYD Atto 3, and MG ZS EV.
