While previous reports suggested that Toyota would introduce new variants of the Fortuner SUV before the end of 2014, the plan seems to have been postponed to 2015.
Toyota will launch a total of three new variants of the Fortuner:
- New 2.5L D-4D manual
- New 2.5L D-4D automatic
- 3.0L D-4D automatic 4×4
The new 2.5L engine is rumoured to be the same unit doing duty in the Innova but comes with a VGT on the Fortuner, hence developing a healthy 142 BHP of power. The 3.0L variant will sit as the top-of-the-line variant with 168 BHP of power giving you the convenience of an automatic gearbox along with 4WD.
Expect entry level prices to go down, and top end prices to move higher for the Fortuner.
Toyota will also increase prices across its model range by 2-3% in a couple of weeks time.
