Tata Motors wants to change its ‘taxi’ image and is planning not to sell the new Zest and Bolt to taxi / fleet operators.
As of now, however, these taxi / fleet operators give Tata Motors a good business. We’re sure you’ve been picked up in a Tata Manza, Tata Indigo and Tata Indica multiple times where you booked a cab.
Tata now wants to maintain a passenger-market centric image and wish to keep the Zest and Bolt away from the taxi image. Also, regular customers shy away from products which are available to taxi operators, this could be another reason for Tata’s decision.
The Zest is already off to a good start and the Bolt will be launched probably in January 2015.
