Well, Indonesia surely gets the best of two-wheelers which excite us Indian enthusiasts, but rarely do we get them in our market. Yamaha has now launched a new motorcycle called the WR 155 r which is a dual-purpose off-road friendly motorcycle which shares the same engine as the YZF-R15 V3, but in a different state of tune of course to meet the off-road personality. While this bike would make perfect sense and would be an ideal rival to the Hero MotoCorp Xpulse 200 which is gaining popularity, we doubt Yamaha would bring this to our market anytime soon.
Yamaha WR 155 R – Overview
The Yamaha WR 155 R measures 2145mm in length, 840mm in width, 1200mm in height, 1430mm in wheelbase, massive 245mm of ground clearance, seat height of 888mm making it inaccessible to most Indian riders, kerb weight of 134 kg and a fuel tank capacity of 8.1L. The engine on this model is a 155.09cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC motor producing 12.3 kW of power @ 10000 RPM and 14.3 Nm of torque @ 6500 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox. The speedometer of the motorcycle is a digital unit, but it might not look too fancy. However, it is built to provide only important data as on a dual-purpose motorcycle you’re supposed to have your eyes more on the terrain you are riding across.
The bike is built around a semi double cradle chassis riding on 41mm telescopic front fork and a rear monoshock with a 21″ front wheel and an 18″ rear wheel. The bike gets stopping power from disc brakes both at the front and rear. For now, this bike will be sold in the international markets in black & blue paint options.
In other news for the Indian motorcycle enthusiast looking at long touring and going off-road, KTM is all set to introduce the 250 Adventure and 390 Adventure at the India bike week. Both new models will be priced at a premium over their Duke siblings.
