2020 is going to be another big year for Royal Enfield as the brand will launch new generation motorcycles in India. The brand has been working on the all-new Bullet and Classic range which is expected to debut at the Rider Mania 2019, in Goa later this year. However, the flagship models, the Twins, have been caught testing with the mandatory engine upgrade expected to happen by or before April 2020.
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 will get BSVI emission compliance in the months to come. The Continental GT 650 was spotted testing with the new hardware, before it gets approved to the masses. From the spyshots, you can notice the temporary test plates and also a new exhaust which will help meet the emission norms. Two wheelers are expected to get a 3-way catalytic converter, an o2 sensor and a OBD unit with the BSVI update. This will surely bump the pricing of motorcycles from next year.
With the 2020 BSVI update, we expect Royal Enfield to introduce new body colour options with the Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650. Expect pricing to be increased by INR 10,000 – 15,000.
The 648cc Royal Enfield twins come with a air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine producing 47 HP of power @ 7250 RPM and 52 Nm of torque @ 5250 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper assist clutch. The bike gets fuel-injection, and in terms of overall hardware, it is the most advanced Royal Enfield engine till date. With the BSVI update, we expect the power and torque figures to change marginally, and also the weight of the new bike would differ, increase in all probability.
