American motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson has filled for a new trademark name ‘Bareknuckle’ in the United States Trademark Association, says a media report. The new name is likely to be used on the brand’s upcoming streetfighter model. The trademark has not been granted yet and other companies could still raise objection over the moniker if it is being used by any other company, to avoid confusion over products.
Harley-Davidson has been reported to be working on a new line-up of motorcycles, under the project, ‘More Roads to Harley-Davidson’. The brand has already revealed working concepts of the new line-up and is expected to take off the wraps soon. Just to recap, the bikes that the American brand has been working are a streetfighter, an adventure motorcycle and a factory custom. While the adventure motorcycle has been named Pan America the other two have not been named yet. Harley-Davidson has also applied for other names such as ‘Bronx’ and ’48X’ but at this point of time we are unsure where the brand will use those names.
The name Bareknuckle connotes to the punching characteristics of a streetfighter and goes well with the segment of the motorcycles and Harley-Davidson might be in for a play of words here.
The engine specifications are scarce at the moment but it is expected that the brand will use a water-cooled, V-twin with a maximum displacement of 975cc on the streetfighter. A production model of the bike is likely to be revealed by next year alongside the Pan America Adventure 1250, with the 1250 Custom to be introduced in 2021.
With ‘More Roads to Harley-Davidson’ the brand is reportedly working on another new entry-level motorcycle in association with the motorcycle giant Qianjang in China. The 338cc roadster is likely to be based on the Benelli 302s and is expected to be developed initially for the Chinese market but speculations are that Harley-Davidson will soon introduce the motorcycle to the Indian and other Asian markets owing to high demand in that segment.
